The Plymouth City Centre Company is a Business Improvement District (BID) which was set up to promote the city centre and enable its businesses to thrive in a fast-changing market place. It is a not-for-profit company which delivers projects and services based on a business plan agreed by businesses in 2020.

The BID has a simple underlying aim – to increase footfall and improve business revenues for more than 560 businesses within the core city centre.

It is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors with representatives from a cross-section of city centre businesses and stakeholders.

All eligible businesses pay a levy based on the rateable value of their business. With extra income from sponsorship, events and landlord subscriptions, the company generates annual revenue of about £700,000 to invest in city centre projects with five main themes:

• The Plymouth Welcome
• Events
• Marketing
• Business Support
• Placemaking

The BID was voted back in for a fourth term with an overwhelming majority in February 2020. Click here for full story.
